  • Borderline Personality Disorder is often misunderstood and can carry a heavy stigma, even among mental health professionals.  This full day training aims to create a clear picture of the diagnosis, including differential diagnosis considerations, as well as look at the treatment modalities utilized with this diagnosis, with a small focus on DBT and IFS. In addition, time will be spent reflecting on and unpacking our own internalized biases about the diagnosis. This is an interactive training, with encouragement to participate and share and ask questions throughout.

    1. Summarize current research on causes of Borderline Personality Disorder

    2. Demonstrate a clear understanding of the diagnostic criteria from both the DSM-5 and the ICD-11 for Borderline Personality Disorder

    3. Distinguish between Borderline Personality Disorder and the most common misdiagnoses and comorbid diagnoses

    4. Summarize the most effective treatment modalities for clients with Borderline Personality Disorder

    5. Identify any unconscious biases the clinician may have about clients with Borderline Personality Disorder.

    6. Analyze how unconscious biases may impact the clinician’s ability to work effectively with client with Borderline Personality Disorder

    **Expendable income might mean you can buy a coffee/tea at a shop, go to the movies, buy new clothes, books, and similar items regularly.
